If you are the proud owner of a new device or have deleted the data by mistake, you can fall back on a data backup you have created.

Restore Procedure

Restore knowledge database

How to restore the data on your device:

  • Create a data backup on the old device

  • Transfer current data backup file (ZIP file) to new device

  • Invoke the restore function on the start page

  • Restore collections explicitly (any old version will be overwritten)

Recover collections with knowledge

1) Transfer backup file to new device

First comes the biggest challenge: you have to transfer the data backup (ZIP file) you have created to the target device. Depending on the device and operating system, there are different ways of copying the file.

The easiest way is probably to use iCloud Drive or Google Drive. Place the backup file with your knowledge databases in a folder where you can access it from the new device.

2) Open start page

If you have a new device, you must first download the smasi app from the corresponding store.

Now start the smasi App where you want to use the saved knowledge collections in the future. On the start page, where all collections are listed, you will find the inconspicuous menu with the 3 dots at the top right:

Start page of smasi App

Hint: Note: If you are in an open collection, you must first tap on 'Open another collection' in the top left of the navigation bar to return to the start page.

3) Invoke restore function

As soon as you tap the menu at the top right of the start page, you will find the 'Restore' command. Now click on this command:

Invoke restore function

4) Search your backup file

Now you have to click on the 'Select backup' button at the bottom, which allows you to find and select the copied data backup file (ZIP file). You specified the storage location of the file in the first step or while creating the data backup.

Search your backup file

Hint: If you want to use a previously created local data backup, you can directly select the appropriate backup from the list above from the local device.

5) Restore desired collections

On the following page you can now select the collections that you want to restore resp overwrite.

You can start the restore process with the 'Execute' button below:

Restore desired collections

The recovery may take a moment. Afterwards, you can use the collection on the device as usual.
